The secret art of inviting happiness
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy." (https://www.reiki.org/faqs/what-reiki)
Reiki is spiritual in nature and does not require you to believe in it for you to learn and use Reiki.
In an in person Reiki treatment you will either lie on a massage table or sit comfortably (in both instances fully clothed) whilst the practitioner lightly lays their hands on your body or just above your body. During a distant/remote treatment you will relax in a comfortable space while the practitioner sends you Reiki through an energetic connection.
Who can learn Reiki?
Anyone can learn Reiki, as the connection to the energy is undertaken through an 'attunement' or 'placement' which allows the Reiki energy to flow through you.
A little skeptical ? - Why not have a read of this book a science based guide on Using Reiki in Clinical Practice

Holy Fire ® III Reiki Courses
Holy Fire ®Reiki is a type of Reiki energy and a system of Reiki healing that has evolved from Usui Reiki. The International Centre for Reiki Training (www.reiki.org) brought this exciting development to the community and has strict guidance on the content and delivery of their programmes and they are available online or face to face. In this system placements and ignitions are used in place of attunements to connect you directly to the Reiki energy. Levels I and II are usually undertaken together over 2 consecutive days. The Master/Teacher Level for Holy Fire ®III is a 3 day course.
Please see course details for more information
Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki
The Usui Shiki Ryoho courses would be classed as more traditional in their training and delivery. These programmes are delivered face to face only. The Master level is completed via a 3 day course with 3 attunements, this level has a personalised study plan with no definite time span.
