ABOUT
Duncan is the Director of the Karuna Centre for Reiki Training and over the years has undertaken a large amount of education and training to be the best practitioner and teacher he can be. Duncan is constantly learning and reflecting on his practice.
Duncan's Reiki journey started in 1998, when a large van drove into the back of his small car. He suffered with severe pain and traditional medication and therapy wasn't helping with his recovery. A friend suggested he try Reiki, and after some convincing, he had a treatment and had no pain without medication for 48 hours. Duncan completed his first set of Reiki training and a one year Reiki Master Teacher apprenticeship in 2000.
This was also the year he completed his degree in Psychology. Duncan then went on to further study including teacher training and lived and worked in China for two years. On his return to the UK he completed more study in education and medical education and completed a PhD. Duncan has worked in a range of education settings all while maintaining his Reiki practice.
Duncan retrained with Lourdes Gray and completed a 3 year Reiki Master Teacher Apprenticeship.
In 2025, Duncan became the first and only externally licensed Reiki Master Teacher with the John Harvey Gray Center for Reiki Healing, LLC. The lineage is held and taught by Lourdes Gray, Senior Reiki Master Teacher, Lineage Bearer, and President of the Center.
Duncan is licensed to teach Reiki 1, Reiki 2, Reiki 2 Advanced and Reiki for Kids under the license.
Duncan is highly experienced and qualified having benchmarked his skills against several professional standards for teaching and learning, leadership and management. He holds several teaching qualifications, professional recogntion across teaching sectors, is a Professor of Education (Learning and Teaching) and has won national teaching awards. Duncan is registered with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) and his courses are also accredited by them. He is looking forward to supporting you on your Reiki journey.
